In 2017 Santa Maria College had the highest number of Gold participants receive their award at the Awards Ceremony. The Duke of Edinburgh Award, which is run at the College at the Bronze, Silver and Gold Level, teaches students the importance of service, persistence, commitment and fun. Santa Maria girls connect with the local community by completing ongoing service and skill; while challenging themselves in some of the state’s most beautiful areas on bushwalking expeditions.

The Bronze Award is a compulsory component of the Year 9 Learning Program, while the Silver and Gold Awards are offered as extra curricular activities at Santa Maria.
