Opportunities to Grow is a
program of enrichment and extension for students with high
capabilities.
Santa Maria College recognises the needs of the gifted and
talented students. In keeping with our vision statement, we believe
in fostering an atmosphere where each student's special needs are
recognised and school is a place where students can feel safe,
valued, challenged, affirmed and encouraged to grow. We acknowledge
the need to nurture a search for truth, a spirit of enquiry and a
love of learning.
It is within this context that Santa Maria College offers a
range of activities and opportunities to cater for a wide range of
talents and interests. Many of these offerings are well
established, but variations may occur from year to year.
Below are just some of the activities and opportunities
available for our gifted and talented students:

11 students in a variety of subjects
- Debating and public speaking in school and regional

offered to Year 7 and 8 students.
- A group of senior students will be attending the Gifted and
Talented conference in May, 2009.
