In 2014 Santa Maria College topped the state for the highest number of students completing their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. The Award, which is run at the College at the Bronze, Silver and Gold Level, teaches students the importance of service, persistence, commitment and fun. Santa Maria girls connect with the local community by completing ongoing service and skill; while challenging themselves in some of the state’s most beautiful areas on bushwalking expeditions.

The Bronze Award is a compulsory component of the Year 9 Learning Program, while the Silver and Gold Awards are offered as extra curricular activities at Santa Maria.
