We encourage respect, care and understanding of self and others.
We strive to build and maintain a community which fosters the
personal growth of all our members.
The aim of our pastoral program is to provide an environment
which enables our students to fulfill the College motto “Dare to do
as much as you are able”.
The pastoral care network involves all members of the school
community. Structures have been set up to ensure that all our
students are nurtured. Every student is placed in a homeroom group
where a teacher is assigned with special responsibility for that
particular group. Parents and students are encouraged to develop an
open and trusting relationship with the homeroom teacher. Homeroom
teachers are supported in their task by Year Level Co-ordinators
and the Leadership Team. There is a counsellor on staff for more
difficult problems and maintaining links with community
agencies.
Sister Glenys Dellamarta (a Sister of the Good Samaritan) also
provides vital pastoral care for staff, students and families of
the College.
The pastoral program also encourages the students to care for
each other and build their own support networks. Our Buddy System
teams each Year 7 student with a Year 12 student to make the
transition from primary school less daunting. There are regular
retreat days which enable the girls to reflect and grow in
spiritual and emotional maturity.
Discipline is an integral part of the pastoral care program as
we attempt to assist out students in their growth towards
self-discipline and maturity.
The Santa Community has worked together to formulate policies on
behaviour management and bullying. Our Wellbeing and Harassment
Policy and Discipline Policies are available under the Policies
menu.
